Happy Anniversary!

Justin and I celebrated our 6th anniversary Saturday, friday night we went to dinner - I had my first experience with Thai food, which was pretty good, but I enjoyed the chocolate that we got later for dessert even more! When we got home I pulled out the wedding videos which we haven't watched since our first anniversary. It was fun to watch and remember and it was really interesting to see how much people have changed in the past 6 years. I won't torture you by posting any of that, but this video is what played at our rehearsal dinner. Thanks to Shelley Eckert for putting this together for us. If you have any interest in our growing up years and have about 9 minutes of your day to spare you may enjoy watching it, but I am mostly posting it to preserve it for us. I have no idea what it'll be like with such a small viewing space, but you get the idea.

Here's to 60 more years!

Go Landon!

Well this evening Justin was walking with Landon and I was doing the dishes. Justin let go of Landon's hand and he just walked on over to me - like it was nothing. We were all excited - jumping and clapping and he kept looking at us like what's the big deal? He probably took about 20 steps and considering he hadn't taken more than 5 (and he hadn't even been doing that recently) - it was pretty exciting. I finally remembered to grab the video camera and caught a little on film, of course he doesn't walk nearly as far as he did the first time, but you can get the idea.

The Wheels on the Bus

Yesterday I was reading Landon the book The Pigeon Loves Things that Go. We sang "The Wheels on the Bus" for the bus picture, said, "choo, choo" for the train, flew for the airplane, and said, "mmmm, yummy" for the hot dog. Today Landon found the book and started trying to do the wheels go round and round for the bus while saying "rah, rah, rah", wave his arms around for the train and plane, and said, "mmmm" for the hot dog. I was impressed that he still remembered it all from yesterday. Here is a little clip of his singing and you'll have to just ignore me, I tried to cut some of it out but it was too hard to cut it all out :)

Happy 4th!

Well we had a pretty low key 4th of July this year. We went to see the Kennesaw fireworks on July 3rd. We weren't sure how Landon would do, but after the initial couple of loud booms he seemed to enjoy watching them. Justin started saying, "boom, boom" after each one so then Landon started copying him but it sounded more like "oom, oom." The show lasted about 20 minutes, but after about the first ten Landon started looking like he might just fall asleep, however he managed to push through and make it to the end. Hope you all enjoyed your Fourth of July!
On our way downtown - one of the benefits of where we live is we can walk to all the downtown activities

Not the best picture but you can see that top tooth coming in.

Don't worry Landon is still there, he's just hiding in the backpack

Daddy and Landon, mid yawn, it was way past bedtime!

He had a good grip on dad's shirt when it first started

About halfway through the show and he was ready to sleep

He perked back up to watch the finale

Landon Update

I thought I'd give a little update on what Landon is up to these days. He is just over 14 months and is into exploring everything. He has learned how to stack his blocks (and knock them over) and push his cars all over the house while saying something that sounds like voom, voom. He now says woof, woof when he sees anything resembling a dog or wants to see Oakley. He still loves fans, and has learned to say, "ffffff" while he points to one. If you catch him in the right mood he can show you where his head, ears, and toes are. We are still working on the eyes and nose. He is beginning to understand what I'm saying. If I ask him if he wants to read books he will go over to the bookshelf or if I ask him if he wants to brush teeth he will grab me and point to the bathroom. As for teeth, his right front top tooth finally came in making a total of 3 but the left front and the one next to it are ready to pop through at any moment. He is becoming more of picky eater although you would never guess it by his size. He loves to put food in his mouth chew it up and then spit it all back out. It is a fun game for him, not so much for mom and dad. He is also becoming a little comedian. He tries to be silly and if he gets a laugh he will do it over and over. He is at the age where everyday he does something new, so I enjoy just sitting and watching him to see what he'll do next!

Cruisin' Along

He hasn't worked up the courage to let go yet, but he has gotten very good at walking as long as he is holding onto something. He will take a few steps every now and then, five has been the record so far. The whole thing still makes him a little nervous so he tends to just lunge forward towards the closest person (usually me) whenever he is no longer holding anything.

Farewell...

Our friends Stephen and Annette Parris and their kids McKenna, Caia, and Jackson are headed off to Charleston, SC to help start a new church. We are very excited about their new adventure yet very sad to see them go. We had a cookout with our journey group at the nearby park last night. The food was good and the weather was perfect, just wish the circumstances had been different.
